Here are notes and images from the 1/23/08 Visioning Exercize, which was the first Berlin Master Plan public input session.
The public is invited by the City of Berlin to the second Master Plan visioning session on Wednesday March 5, 2008, 6:00PM at White Mountain Community College in the cafeteria. The second session will focus on potential future uses for the former pulp mill property as envisioned by the community. It was intended that this session would cover both downtown and the mill property, but we will be discussing the downtown at the third session to allow for adequate time to speak about both important issues.
Please feel free to start the conversation and good ideas by adding ideas to our Master Plan & Community Conversations website – http://www.berlinfuture.wordpress.com

I think at this point we need the input of the younger generation which seems to be lacking. A 20 year vison is good but those of us who are now in our 50’s we will be in our 70’s and should be at that point looking for the next generation to be running our city government.
I believe there is a way of generating some interest in the young people of this town.
How about getting the message out in our schools.
Starting an essay contest within our high school just might generate some interest as well as getting some good ideas from the generation that will be running this town in 20 years.
Getting our mayor and council people as guest speakers in maybe a civics class or career day event.
I believe that our young people may start getting involved if we start to include them more.
But we have to bring it to them.
I get the impression from the younger generation that they feel that no one ever listens to them anyway so why bother. Let us see if we can’t turn this around in our town. Let’s make an open effort and invite them or at least get them thinking about it through our schools.
I think we would be surprised at the ideas some of these young people will turn out.
If we want them to stay here lets make them part of the process. Let’s make them feel that their input is just as important or maybe more important in a 20 year vision then this generations. After all it is their future!
I love your site!
